Obvi uses micro doses of sucralose verses higher doses of other sweeteners such as stevia, or monk fruit to get the same delicious taste. Using higher does of stevia and other sweeteners was not something we wanted to do as it purely defeats the purpose of alternative sweeteners, and the microdose of sucralose does the job.

There are a lot of scary stories and misinformation surrounding sucralose. You may have heard artificial sweeteners are dangerous. Maybe you’ve heard that they trick the body into thinking sugar is coming, causing an insulin spike? Well, we here at Obvi are here to separate fact from fiction. Sucralose is about 600 times as sweet as sugar but offers no caloric value. Thus, sucralose is a great way to make your food or beverage sweeter without adding sugar and calories. However, some people think that sucralose may not be worth saving a few calories. There are recent claims that sucralose may harm our gut microflora. Our gut health is involved in our metabolism and immune system, so anything that negatively impacts our gut health is a big no-no! Luckily, these claims are not supported by data. Studies showing high levels of chronic exposure (eating a lot of sucralose over a long time) found that sucralose wasn't metabolized by the organism. This means that their gut microflora did not metabolize the sucralose, nor did their gut microflora adapt to significant long-term ingestion of sucralose. Further studies have shown there is no build-up or storage of sucralose in your body. Additionally, sucralose has been labeled non-genotoxic (a material that can be mutagenic or carcinogenic). Three separate in-vivo have shown sucralose is not mutagenic or carcinogenic. These findings are supported by genotoxicity experts and the Scientific Committee on Food. Overall, sucralose is exalted for its ability to replace sugar in the diet. The American Diabetes Association and the FDA recommends sucralose as an acceptable substitute for sugar. Sucralose has been extensively studied and found safe (and tasty) for continued consumption. Our goal at obvi is to help you grow to be your best you.
